Behind the Scenes: Tottenham Hotspur and FC Bayern Munich Pre-Season Tour to South Korea for the Coupang Play Series

Written by Caprice Critchley

Last week, the Pitch International events team organised pre-season tours for Tottenham Hotspur and FC Bayern Munich in South Korea to participate in the third edition of the Coupang Play Series.

The journey began several months ago when Pitch finalised agreements with both Clubs to participate in the showcase event to play friendly matches in the countries capital city Seoul. It was the second time Tottenham Hotspur had played at the Coupang Play Series, with FC Bayern Munich adding to a growing list of top European Football Clubs to feature since 2022, including Atlético de Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and Manchester City.

Across the last seven months, Pitch in conjunction has worked with the Clubs to organise all elements of their tours taking full responsibility of event operations, team hotels, training facilities, field management, player appearances, sponsorship activation and much more. With two open training sessions, and two sell-out crowds, over 170,000 fanatical supporters passed through the gates at the Seoul World Cup Stadium, with those attending on match day being lucky to witness Super Bowl themed half time performances by global K-Pop artists NewJeans and TWICE.

In addition to the event management, Pitch were also responsible for selling distributing the media rights to fourteen broadcast partners, covering one hundred and thirty territories worldwide.

The successful organisation and delivery of Tottenham Hotspur & FC Bayern Munich pre-season tour to South Korea, for the Coupang Play Series stands as a testament to our events team's dedication, expertise and passion. Through meticulous planning, seamless execution, and a commitment to excellence, we delivered an unforgettable experience for the teams, fans, and all stakeholders involved. As we look forward to future events, we remain committed to setting new benchmarks in the world of sports event management.
